Several dead in Turkey’s forest fires | Abroad

The wildfires are also raging further east on the Mediterranean coast. There are more than forty hot spots, including in the regions of Alanya, Mersin and Adana. But a large part of the forest fires are now under control, according to state news agency Anadolu. The cause of the fires is not yet known.

More than 1800 firefighters, including more than thirty helicopters and aircraft, extinguish the fires. They are hampered by persistent strong winds. Many areas at risk of fire had to be evacuated, but there are no reports of evacuations from hotels on the coast.
