They are several to be quoted to become the new manager of Everton.
Marcelo Bielsa is the main candidate to become Everton’s new manager. The Argentine coach is set to take over from Frank Lampard, Sky Sports report.
According to the UK outlet, Bielsa has already held initial talks with Everton management. It is said to be open for a quick start at Goodison Park. The 67-year-old manager is without a club after leaving Leeds United in February last year.
At Leeds, Bielsa was in charge of the club for four years and enjoyed great popularity as he managed to bring the club back to the Premier League. Colleagues like Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettino have praised him for his professionalism in the past. Although Bielsa has the best papers to succeed Lampard, according to English media, Sean Dyche, Nuno Espirito Santo and club icon Wayne Rooney are also on the list of candidates.
Lampard was sacked on Monday due to disappointing results. Everton are only 19th in the Premier League and are in a bitter fight against relegation. The Times reports that the former Chelsea player was involved in ‘a dressing room confrontation’ shortly before his departure. He would have fought with some of his players. Following the incident, Abdoulaye Doucoure had to train separately. He was also not in the group of the day during the match against West Ham United (2-0 defeat).
The Toffees are expected to introduce Arnaut Danjuma as a new signing soon. The Dutch striker is on loan from Villarreal. He will therefore probably team up with Bielsa and become Amadou Onana’s teammate.
