The Jury psychiatric hospital, in Moselle, has gone through many very difficult times since the start of the Covid-19 epidemic in France. Six clusters have been identified in this establishment, two of which have been within a week. In one building, 31 out of 36 residents have been diagnosed with Covid-19. “We do not really see the end of the crisis and we are in an extremely critical situation”, says Philippe Kratz, HR Director of the Jury Hospital Center.
The nursing staff warns about the infrastructures of the hospital center which would not be adapted to the health crisis which affects the country. Some patients end up with two or three in the same room. “Rooms like that, already in normal periods, it is unacceptable for me. In Covid period, it is catastrophic”, denounces Dominique Lehnen, director of care. Healthcare workers are also strongly affected by the virus: 140 of the 530 hospital employees are on sick leave linked to Covid-19.
