Choose rest
Jeroen van Broekhoven of interest association Nachtbelang has not even opened his discotheque Fox in Stadskanaal. There is no quick test location in Stadskanaal, so people would have to move to Groningen or Emmen. “That’s why we decided to stay closed.”
And the disco will remain that way for a while. “I am waiting to see how the new variants develop and whether most people are vaccinated. Then I hope to be able to open again in September or October.”
The catering entrepreneur understands well that Club Nyx and Exit Café are now closing. “I don’t know the owner, but I think he just chooses to rest for a while, just like me. It’s really not because it is not profitable to stay open. All the clubs that opened in Amsterdam over the past weekends were busy was sitting.”
Hard to explain
Van Broekhoven is currently building his Secret Forest festival, also in Stadskanaal. The catering entrepreneur hopes that about 7000 visitors will come on Saturday. Yet there are people who have already canceled and want their money back because of the test rules.
According to Van Broekhoven, those rules are also difficult to explain. “First you could straight in after a shot, now that’s na two weeks. And then you had problems with QR codes, and some people who could enter with a yellow booklet and in other places not.”
