On the night of October 24 to 25, 2024, nearly 130mm of rain still fell on Cuba, in the east of the island during a tropical wave according to meteorologists. The same region had already been affected by Hurricane Oscar a few days earlier (on the 21st). These new heavy precipitations lasted 7 hours without respite.
In the east of Cuba, the population is trying to recover after the passage of Hurricane Oscar on October 21. To date, the deaths of 7 people have been confirmed by local authorities, while other residents of these areas still have no news of some of their family members.
These rains further complicated the situation in the province of Guantanamo, especially in the municipalities of Baracoa, Maisí, Imías and San Antonio del Sur, which were trying to recover from the serious damage caused by Hurricane Oscar.

Thousands of Cubans from these communities have still not been rescued after the passage of the cyclone, while the new torrential rains are still stagnating in this part of the country, which risks causing other victims. For almost a week, these residents have been living without food and drinking water.

Due to major power outages that sometimes lasted 48 hours, residents were not warned of the passage of Hurricane Oscar. Everyone was already in bed when the cyclone hit.
This Friday, October 25, 2024, the weather forecasts lacked details, regretting this population which is now doubly affected and who feels abandoned by the authorities.
