‘Several children in Bosnia die from carbon monoxide poisoning’ | Abroad

The municipality offered condolences to the relatives on Facebook “after a tragedy in which eight young lives were lost.” A Bosnian news website reports that nine children have died. The exact age of the victims has not been disclosed.

Police have started an investigation into the cause of death. Media write that a faulty power generator is the cause.

Carbon monoxide poisoning is more common in Eastern Europe during the winter months. The poisonous gas can build up during the burning of wood, using gas stoves, or running generators in enclosed spaces.
