A fire broke out in the staff parking garage of the Jeroen Bosch Hospital in Den Bosch on Monday morning around 7:30 am. The fire on the third floor was quickly extinguished. Several cars were damaged; one went up in flames.
A woman inhaled smoke during the fire, according to the hospital. She is being treated in the emergency room.
Fire skipped to other cars
According to the fire service, an automatic fire alarm went off in an outbuilding of the hospital around a quarter to eight in the morning. When the fire brigade went to look, it turned out to be the staff parking garage, where a car fire was raging.
The hospital reports that the fire has “spread to probably four or five other cars”. The staff parking garage has not yet been released, but the garage for visitors is open as usual, the hospital reports.
‘This sucks after a night shift’
Now it’s time for the staff to wait and see. A nurse standing in front of the closed parking garage was disappointed with the fire on Monday morning. She has just completed several hours of work.
“This sucks, after a night shift. It’s been a very long night and now I can’t go home. If I have to be picked up I’ll be here for another hour and then I also have to have the car picked up. And everyone is with quarantine me at home.”
Research
Images of the fire are circulating on social media. It is unclear what caused the fire. An investigation into the cause is underway, the fire service confirms.
