Footballer and hairdresser appointments, a perennial favorite. Now it is the Dortmunders who fall into the trap.
Since the restart, the Bundesliga teams have given the outside world a good overall picture of compliance with hygiene regulations. Apart from Neo Augsburg coach Heiko Herrlich, hardly anyone made negative headlines. The fact that the Hertha players got too close on the first day of the goal celebration was disturbed in many places, but there could be no question of a scandal. After all, the players didn’t get any closer than at a corner kick.
However, some Dortmunders are now causing a mini earthquake. Six professionals are said to have violated the hygiene regulations of the German Football League (DFL) at hairdressing appointments. The “Bild” newspaper has published photos that show BVB super talent Jadon Sancho, among others, who has his hair cut by a well-known star hairdresser – neither Sancho nor the hairdresser wear a face mask.

Sancho is not the only rule breaker, but he is certainly the biggest problem. More on that later. Axel Witsel, Thorgan Hazard, Raphaël Guerreiro, Dan-Axel Zagadou and Swiss international Manuel Akanji also had their hair cut by the star hairdresser last Thursday in their own four walls. Akanji and Guerreiro also published corresponding pictures.
With this action, they bring the BVB managers in need of explanation. In relation to the tabloid, BVB comments as follows: “It is quite normal for our boys to have their hair cut after all the months. But what is of course not possible is that this has been done on both sides in the past week without a mask. We will remind our players of this very, very clearly. The hairdresser should also ask himself about his behavior. »
The star hairdresser says in his defense that he only took off the mask for the photos. Otherwise, “all hygiene measures were strictly observed”. However, the players mentioned violated the current guidelines of the DFL in any case and also did not correctly interpret the guidelines of the NRW Ministry of Health.
Anger for Jadon Sancho
Back to super talent Sancho. The 117 million man is said to have flown to his native England for several days during the Corona break without the permission of his employer. As a result, he had to be quarantined for two weeks after his return. Sancho was therefore initially unable to participate in the small group training – officially, however, due to calf problems. BVB has not commented on this.
If Sancho were not so valuable, he would have flown upright from the squad – especially since he also seems to have gained a few kilos during the Corona break. Against Paderborn, with a new hairstyle, he underlined once again what a gifted kicker he is. He scored three goals on the way to a 6-1 win. This season he has 27 Bundesliga appearances, 17 goals and 17 assists.
