While the number of exiles have made the dangerous crossing of the Channel since the beginning of the year, the Pas-de-Calais police have announced that they have prevented several attempts to cross migrants to England on Thursday evening. See you on Friday.
The limit of 30,000 people attempting the crossing has in fact been exceeded, according to data from the British Ministry of Defense. This is already, three and a half months from the end of the year, higher than the total number of crossings made in 2021. A sad record.
Passers-by defeated
In a tweet on Friday, police announced “last night in Ambleteuse, Marck and Wimereux, after foiling” three illegal sea crossing attempts by migrants to England. “Nautical equipment seized”. About forty migrants were detained in their attempt in Ambleteuse, 70 people in Marck, 25 in Wimereux and another group of 28 people were surprised in Le Touquet, said the Departmental Directorate of Public Security (DDSP 62).
Already the previous night, in Sangatte and on the A16 motorway, the police had intercepted “two vehicles loaded with nautical equipment and 70 migrants, according to the DDSP. These interventions also follow last week’s dismantling of an Iraqi-Kurdish network of migrant smugglers to Britain and a massive seizure of nautical equipment on the outskirts of Lille (including 13 boats capable of carrying 50 migrants each, 14 engines and 700 life jackets).
