Election night has been troubled in some places in the United States. Seattle police have arrested eight people after late demonstrations and marches in the city. People also took to the streets in Washington and Los Angeles. In Charlotte, North Carolina, a man was arrested for armed patrolling near a polling station. It was restless at night in Portland. Armed protesters set fire to flags there.

In the capital Washington D.C. Hundreds of people protested in Black Lives Matter Plaza, near the White House. Most of them were to show their support to Joe Biden. The protest started pleasantly, the whole event was bathed in a kind of festival atmosphere. Those in attendance hoped for a resounding victory, but as it became clear that one landslide was no longer possible, the atmosphere changed. According to the broadcaster NBC, three people were arrested in two incidents.
In Seattle there was a protest, but according to The Seattle Times, this protest was more directed against police brutality and savages Black Lives Mattersactivists are using the momentum of election night to reinforce their message. There were minor disturbances, and Seattle police said that among those arrested was one who had hit nails in a road and another who drove over a police barricade. Protesters also erected barricades in the street.
In The Angels the police arrested 40 people because they blocked train tracks and did not want to leave the area.

After Donald Trump prematurely declared himself the winner of the election, protesters gathered in federal court in Portland. Anti-racism protesters have already come together there.
