Seventh place for Jonas in the MXGP of Spain

After finishing eighth in the first race, Jonas (Standing Construct Honda) was in sixth position in the first three laps of the second race, but then slipped to seventh. A lap later, Jonas lost another position and was eighth.

Towards the end of the race, Glen Coldenhoff retired from the race, which allowed Jonas to climb back to seventh place, which the Latvian kept until the finish.

Spanish Jorge Prado (“GasGas”) won a convincing victory in the second race. Slovenian Tim Gajser (Honda) took second place, losing 6.133 seconds, while Frenchman Romain Fevres (Kawasaki) lost 12.722 seconds and finished third. Jonas finished more than a minute behind the winner.

In the sum of two races, the victory was celebrated by Prado with 50 points, Gajser was second with 44 points, and Favre took third place with 38 points. 27 points gave Jonas the seventh position in the stage overall.

After the first two rounds, the leader in the overall standings of the world championship is Prado with 114 points, Gajser takes the second place with 104 points, while Favre completes the top three with 92 points. Jonas is in fifth position with 73 points.

In the previous season, the Spaniard Prado won the overall standings, leaving Romain Fevre and the Swiss Jeremy Siever behind, but Jonas finished 19th with several injuries.
