A seventeen-year-old girl was stabbed in the shoulder with a knife during a robbery in Hilversum on Friday. Two bystanders quickly overpowered the 37-year-old perpetrator, police said.
Initially, the police said that the victim in Havenstraat was attacked from behind by the perpetrator on a bicycle. But after investigation it turned out that the girl was waiting with her bicycle at a traffic light on the Brinkweg, when she was stabbed in her shoulder by a man with a knife.
The 17-year-old girl suffered minor injuries. The assailant fled with her bag.
Two witnesses went after the man and overpowered him until he could be apprehended by officers. The police praised the quick action of the bystanders.
The incident leads to extra consternation in Hilversum, because last Sunday a person lost his life in another stabbing. The police have arrested a suspect in that case.
