MEven if he has only played three matches in 2022 (quarter in Dubai), after his bad Australian saga and his anti-vaccine convictions which also made him miss the last American tour, Novak Djokovic continues to write the story.

This Monday, he began his 364th week (cumulative) on the world throne, which simply represents 7 years of dominating world tennis! The Serb holds this fabulous record in an era he had to share with Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Andy Murray, to name his main historical rivals at the top.

Daniil Medvedev, who had robbed him of this place at the top for three weeks, after Acapulco, could have continued the adventure if he had at least reached the semi-finals in Miami, but visibly affected physically (he has just had surgery for ‘a small hernia), the Russian failed in the quarter against the Pole Hurkacz. Number 2 is now “out” for one to two months.

Novak Djokovic has therefore become the world number one again when preparing for his big comeback next week on the clay courts of Monte-Carlo where he resides. 364 weeks at the top compared to the 310 weeks of the previous record held by Roger Federer, it also means that the Serb has relegated the Swiss legend, a year behind. Impressive !
