The prefecture of Côte-d’Or has been implementing new measures to combat drought in some sectors of the department since 19 September.
“Although the recent rains have slightly improved the situation in some areas, the drought persists.“, indicates in a statement the prefecture of Côte-d’Or. Consequently, the” crisis “threshold, the highest of all the alert thresholds, is applied in seven basins of the department:
- the Middle Saone,
- Mount Tille,
- the Cent Fonts-Biètre-Vouge,
- of Bouzaize-Lauve-Rhoin-Meuzin,
- Ouche downstream,
- the Serein-Romanée,
- Arroux-Lacanche.

In these seven basins, shown in red on the map of the department, the restriction measures are the most severe. All users are interested, be they private or professional. It is forbidden to water lawns, flower beds, potted plants, green spaces. Cleaning of facades, roofs, sidewalks and other waterproofed surfaces is also prohibited, “except the sanitary imperative“. Water withdrawals for agricultural irrigation are also prohibited”with the exception of some sensitive crops“.
In addition to these seven “crisis” areas, four basins are on “enhanced alert” (in orange on the map). This means in particular that the irrigation of lawns, flower beds and potted plants is prohibited. For gardens, on the other hand, irrigation is allowed between 20:00 and 9:00. The sectors concerned:
- to Vingeanne,
- Bèze-Albane,
- the Tille downstream
- the Chatillonais.
Two basins are in simple “alert” (in yellow on the map). This means that plant watering is allowed between 18:00 and 11:00. Car wash is prohibited in the home but authorized in car washes. The sectors concerned:
- upstream of the Ouch,
- l’Armançon-Brenne.
The remaining sector, that of La Dheune in the far south of the department, has crossed the threshold of “surveillance”, the lowest of the four levels of drought warning.
“All water users are invited to continue their efforts and show the utmost sobriety in the use of water, whatever its origin.“, Concludes the prefecture.
