Seven rivers at risk of overflowing due to increased flows after Cyclone Yaku

The rivers that are in Orange alert are the Utcubamba of Amazonas; Jequetepeque of Cajamarca; Huaura de Lima. Other rivers that are at the alert level without yet reaching the orange color are: Cashew, Chancay and Chilete.

In the case of Utcubamba (Amazon)the Naranjito hydrological station, in the Jamalca district, registered a level of 4.9 m3/s, placing it in the orange risk level, and in the event of an overflow it would affect the following towns: Bagua Grande, Orange Port, Misquiyacu Port, Sandstone, Salao.

He Jetepeque River in Cajamarcaaccording to the Yonan Gore hydrological station, registers a level of 218.66 m3/s, placing it in the orange risk level.

In the event of a possible overflow, the following would be affected: Tierra Blanca, Puerto Naranjito, La Mesita, Piedra Grande, Tembladera, Yonan Viejo, Yonan, Santa Catalina, La Banda, Cruz Colorada, Molino, La Florida, Chausis, Alcantarilla, – Pampa Larga and Quina Quina.

Threat to Lima

He Huaura river of Lima registers a flow level of 81.52 m3/s, and in the orange risk level. Faced with a possible overflow of the Huaura River, the following would be affected: The Cross of Andahuasi, Candlestick, Andahuasi (Cooperative), Eniminga Big, Eniminga Small, St. John and Venturosa.

Other rivers that are at the alert level without yet reaching the orange color are: Cashew, Chancay and Chilete.
