Seven people died and five were injured after a tree fell on a tin shed during a religious ceremony in Akola, Maharashtra.

Seven people have died and a further five have been injured in Maharashtra, India, after an old Neem tree fell on a tin shed during a religious ceremony in front of a temple during heavy rainfall and strong winds. Emergency services were called to the scene in Akola where 35-40 people had been sheltering under the shed. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has offered condolences and financial assistance to the families of the victims.
