Seven motorbikes going against the direction of traffic on Great Temple, South Jakarta, was hit by a brick-laden truck. The motorist who disobeyed the traffic was injured.
This accident had gone viral on social media. In the video circulating, Tuesday (22/8/2023), the truck involved in the accident can be seen parked on the shoulder of the road. The motorbike that was hit by the truck appeared to be damaged.
In fact, several motorbikes were seen stuck in front of the truck after being hit. Several motorcyclists lay on the pavement after being involved in an accident.
Here are the facts of the accident:
1. Truck Driver Arrested
Jagakarsa Police Chief Kompol Multazam Lisendra confirmed the accident. The accident has been handled by the police.
“It’s been handled. A truck loaded with hebel bricks hit 7 motorists,” said Multazam when contacted, Tuesday (22/8).
He said the injured in the accident were immediately evacuated. In addition, the truck driver who was involved in the accident has also been arrested. Furthermore, his party will hand over the case to the accident unit and then the South Jakarta Metro Police.
“So the victim has been evacuated, the point is that we prioritize the safety of the victim. We have secured the truck driver, we will also proceed to the accident unit and then the Police,” he said.
2. Appearance of the Accident Crime Scene
detikcom then visited the crash site. monitoring detikcom at the location, Tuesday (22/8/2023), traces of a collision were seen on the asphalt of the Highway Great Temple the direction of Depok. Apart from that, there were pieces of glass and motorbike bodies strewn across the site.
There are also bloodstains that have been covered in dirt and marked with pilox. Apart from that, there is one motorbike that was damaged which is still at the location. Traffic at the location is monitored smoothly.
3. Citizen’s Testimony
Residents who witnessed the accident told about the accident. One of the witnesses, Marodi (55), admitted that he saw the motorcycles resisting.
“The motorbikes are all going in the opposite direction, they just stop there, the term is holding on,” said Marodi, who is a porridge seller near the accident scene, Tuesday (22/8).
Marodi the motorbikes stopped because there was a truck. According to him, the truck suddenly hit the motorists.
“The truck didn’t shake, straight away. It was the truck that crashed. The motorbike stopped, the truck pushed that way,” he said.
Marodi said motorists often go against the direction at that location, especially in the morning. He said many motorbikes went against the direction to take their children to school.
“Often (motorcycles go in the opposite direction). (Usually) before 06.00, they leave to take their children to school until 07.00. There are motorcycle taxis too, not only residents who go to school, people work from Depok to Jakarta in the opposite direction play,” he explained.
