In front of more than 500 spectators, and around a hundred Ultramarines despite the announcement of the closed session for this 6th round of the Coupe de France in Soulac-sur-Mer, the Girondins de Bordeaux won against FC Cœur Médoc Atlantique (4- 1) and will be there for the 7th round.
Caught in the intensity in the first minutes, the Bordelais extinguished the opposing attempts in just 7 minutes to seal the fate of the match. The Médocains had however made the perfect start, dominating in the intensity and in the duels. It is logical that after a series of corners, Théo Viaud’s header caused the first thrill of the evening (11th). A free warning which served as a wake-up call to Cédric Yambéré’s teammates.
First for Trazié
Like Thomas Trazié, who played his first match in the colors of the Marine et Blanc, the Girondins regained control of the match. By relying on the good connection between the Ivorian midfielder and Amadou Diallo on the left side, Bordeaux created its first chances. After two goals disallowed for offside following the same pattern, Trazié once again launched Diallo deep. Then a dribble too long from the Bordeaux winger on the opposing goalkeeper, and it was the unfortunate Viot who saw his sliding tackle send the ball into his own net (17th).
A blow that the locals had difficulty withstanding. Precise for more than a quarter of an hour, the Médocans then multiplied their restart errors in front of a pressing, it is true, more intense from the Bordelais. Efforts rewarded by high recoveries which are at the origin of the second and third Girondin goals, both scored by Merdji (21st, 24th). One of the real points of satisfaction for Bruno Irles: “It was a special request. We were also there to work and so we need to put intensity into pressing and transitions. It was well done by my players. »
A short hope
Once the gap was established, the Bordelais and Mutyaba encountered efficiency problems in front of goal, particularly for the latter, who was defeated several times by Alexandre Bernazeau, who allowed his team to keep a tiny hope. And shortly after the hour mark, the entire Médoc believed in the feat thanks to the goal of Arthur Viaud (65th), very happy to intercept a restart from Over Mandanda to send the ball into the empty goal.
Despite a final scare on the outside of Quentin Viot’s foot which came close to Mandanda’s left post (75th), the Girondins remained calm and Nassim Ranem came to end the suspense from a corner (77th). With the only downside being the suspension of Adrien Louveau for accumulating yellow cards, Bruno Irles’ men have done what was necessary to ensure qualification and are now looking forward to a month of November which already promises to be decisive.
