Seven mayors of the metropolitan area of A Coruña want to create a Consortium without Oleiros | Radio Coruña

The schism in the metropolitan area of A Coruña has been consummated. On the one hand, seven councils and on the other, Oleiros, after a time of disagreements that have even ended in a complaint before the courts of justice. Seven of the eight municipalities that make up the As Mariñas Consortium They have decided to suspend the processing of the commonwealth to create another, but without Oleiros. The mayors of Cambre, Culleredo, Betanzos, Abegondo, Bergondo and Carral want to create an entity in which there exists, they say, the real will to reach agreements.

The seven councilors consider that the complaints or challenges by the mayor of Oleiros and his attitude, they say, of questioning endanger the necessary consensus for the regional body.

“The court will say if he is right or wrong, but we and I in particular – said José Antonio Santiso, mayor of Abegondo and president of the Consortium – I want to participate in an association, in a democratic group of municipalities where I have a voice, a vote and the ability to make decisions that is what we all want because it is voluntary this is not from the Provincial Council or the Xunta, it is voluntary. Whoever wants the perfect rules and whoever does not want them has all the right in the world to participate or not”.

From Oleiros, its mayor, Ángel García Seoane, emphasizes that, according to the regulations, the Consortium cannot be transformed into a Commonwealth without first liquidating the Consortium. And in a recording provided by his press office, he points out that there is no possibility of creating a Consortium without Oleiros.

“Mr. Santiso is used to doing or undoing what he pleases in his municipality, even allowing the luxury, as he says, of looking for some opposition parties of some candidates but democracy is not this Mr. Santiso, that’s not “If there is a council in the region of A Coruña that is committed to accumulating efforts, to get cheaper and higher quality public services for citizens, that was Oleiros,” said Ángel García Seoane.

The Oleiros City Council filed a complaint last December for alleged prevarication against the president of the Consortium, the manager, secretary and the auditor in relation to temporary contracts.
