Seven Live Acts and Expanded Entertainment at the Annual Rendsburg Rowing Marathon

Rendsburg (pm). This year there will be seven musical live acts at the annual rowing marathon, including Manfred Mann’s Earth Band and Kamrad and the Wacken Firefighters. In addition, the entertainment framework for visitors will be massively expanded.

They don’t notice many big performances outside of the well-known heavy metal festival in Wacken – but on the occasion of the SH Netz Cup from September 15th to 17th, they will open the concert day on Saturday on the NDR stage at the district harbor: the cult band Wacken Firefighters. Then Magic25 enter the stage – according to their own statements, the largest cover band in the north. And finally, the world stars of Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, who have been delighting fans for decades with hits such as “Blinded by the Light”, “Davy’s on the road again” and “Mighty Quinn”, will perform.

The young German singer-songwriter Kamrad will be performing on the NDR Schleswig-Holstein stage as early as Friday. The 26-year-old landed a big hit with “I believe”, which was the most-played song on German radio last summer; currently you can hardly avoid his “feel alive”. Before that, the Rendsburg cover band Yelle4Penge will heat up the audience, and later in the evening Beauty & the Beats will continue. The DJ’s internationally known and celebrated bass and house productions have already brought him big festival appearances on the Deichbrand and Hurricane, sold-out shows and his own club tours are added to that. “But that’s not the end of our music program,” says Florian Berndt, Managing Director of Canal-Cup Projekt GmbH. “There will be music on the stage on Sunday this year, namely the Alt Duvenstedt music procession.”

The program could not only be expanded musically. Significantly more action on the water and new offers for children are planned. During a flyboard show on Saturday, the acrobats will show what can be moved with the power of water. A breathtaking stunt show is offered, combined with elements from the fields of light, sound and laser technology. Meanwhile, on land, the largest children’s play area that has ever existed at the SH Netz Cup opens its doors for three days – with bouncy castles, a pirate landscape and face painting. For the older children and all technology enthusiasts, the Cap San Diego, which has traveled all the way from Hamburg, offers exciting insights into a more than 60-year-old museum cargo ship – and that free of charge. “We also decided to significantly upgrade the program in order to initiate the final sprint to the 25th anniversary of the SH Netz Cup, which is due in two years,” emphasizes Matthias Boxberger, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the main and title sponsor SH Netz, and announced exciting dragon boat races for fire brigades and clubs with attractive prizes again this year.

Because there is also a lot on offer for spectators and sports enthusiasts on the water: Stand-Up Paddling, Sparkasse Canal Triathlon, Ergo-Respiratory Protection Cup, International Eights Rowing Sprint Cup. “This expanded program has become possible because we received further support from SH Netz and our partners,” says Florian Berndt. A new addition this year is NAH.SH. “With this transport association as a partner, we can offer a shuttle from the train station to the event site for the first time.”

Despite the expanded supporting program, the rowing marathon of the International Eights remains the highlight of the SH Netz Cup. The 12.7 km long and thus toughest rowing race in the world starts in Breiholz and takes the athletes to the Rendsburg district port – with the railway bridge as the finish line. It is not yet clear which teams the Germany eight will have to compete against. As always, the Stadtwerke Ergo-Cup of the International Eight decides who gets to choose the starting place first.

The SH Netz Cup is a sports and family festival for the whole family. And the organization is supported in the run-up to and during the weekend by many partners, sponsors, enablers and, last but not least, by volunteers. Without this broad support it would not be possible to organize an event of this kind. “This year we would like to acknowledge the commitment of the state, in particular the patronage of our Prime Minister Daniel Günther and the support from the Sportland SH future plan,” says Florian Berndt.

This sports development plan is a compass for sports planning in the coming years and shows where popular and competitive sports can develop in the state. But the SH Netz Cup offers more than high-class sport: Parallel to the three competitions of the international rowing eights, various popular sports competitions for rowers, dragon boat enthusiasts, triathletes from rowing clubs, fire brigades and amateur athletes take place. As usual, a gourmet and adventure mile is part of this weekend in late summer.
