All of the Latvian family of judges have retained their previous categories, which were restored before the beginning of the year. A statement issued by UEFA on 26 July states that this time there has been less change overall, as there have also been significantly fewer transitions over the past year as a result of the international match pandemic, especially at the youth national team level.
In determining eligibility for a given category, UEFA takes into account various criteria, including merit, performance, physical examination rates, experience, potential, language skills, participation in UEFA-level training and performance in local competitions. Several Latvian representatives will soon have the first appointments of this season to serve European club tournament games.
