Seven. Film about the film about the case of Kirill Serebrennikov

Director Artyom Firsanov:

A year ago, in early July, an event occurred in my life. It divided it into before and after. But could divide even stronger. The appeal of my diploma at VGIK came Rosguard and the police. Fortunately, we all parted later. But then it seemed that all this was some kind of dream. Well, it can’t be that I, an excellent student, get a troika, lose my diploma, steal a conversation, and in the end call Rosguard. And all due to the fact that six months ago I decided to make a film about Theatrical Affairs, the Gogol Center and Kirill Serebrennikov. But I took it off – despite all the prohibitions, difficulties and fears. And I’m glad that now I can show it to you.

Screenwriter Valery Pecheikin:

June 26, I spent six hours near the Meshchansky court building in Moscow. By the end of the fifth hour, I was, apparently, the only person who believed that the sentence would be conditional. Many of my colleagues lost optimism every hour … And how much we lost during the three years of Theater Business. On the one hand, we simply lost them. All these court hearings, searches and interrogations – this could not be. This time could be spent on creativity. On the other hand, I remind myself every day: Cyril Serebrennikov managed to do more under house arrest than I am at large. Our film is one of those things that we managed to do. We added it from conversations with prosecutors, cultural figures and Baroque music. Happy viewing.
