Seven-Eleven decided to stop selling “a glass of soju,” also known as Lim Chang-jung’s soju, after suspicions that singer Lim Chang-jung was involved in the stock price decline of Societe General (SG), a foreign brokerage company.

A 7-Eleven official said on the 10th, “We have decided not to sell any more if the stock of ‘Soju Hanjan’ that we have so far is exhausted.”

Previously, 7-Eleven launched premium distilled soju in February in partnership with Lim. This product was so popular that all 100,000 units were sold within one month of its launch, as Mr. Lim directly participated in the entire process from selecting raw materials to bottle design.

However, as suspicions arose that Lim might have been involved in the SG Securities scandal, it was pointed out whether it was appropriate to continue selling the product.

Initially, 7-Eleven was in a position to watch the situation as much as Lim claimed that he was also a victim.

However, it seems that the company decided to stop selling as public opinion worsened, such as the fact that Lim attended a party hosted by suspected stock price manipulation forces.
