JAKARTA – The East Jakarta City Government (Pemkot) anticipates the spread of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) caused by the Aedes aegypti mosquito in seven sub-districts that are considered prone to the disease.
Assistant for Administration and People’s Welfare of the East Jakarta City Government, Achmad Salahudin said that his party had asked all sub-district heads, village heads and Regional Government Work Units (SKPD) to promote the eradication of mosquito nests (PSN).
“Increasing PSN carried out by cadres of larvae monitoring interpreters (Jumantik) to form independent Jumantik in every RT/RW,” said Achmad Salahudin in Jakarta, Monday (13/12).
Salahudin said the seven districts prone to the spread of dengue fever were Cakung, Duren Sawit, Kramat Jati, Ciracas, Cipayung, Jatinegara and Pasar Rebo. “Of course this is still a pandemic, PSN must be adjusted to the existing health protocols,” said Salahudin.
Functional Health Entomology from the East Jakarta Health Sub-department, Suprono said, from January to December 2021 there were more than 840 cases of DHF in East Jakarta.
In early December 2021 the number of dengue cases in East Jakarta (Jaktim) decreased. However, he warned that anticipation needs to be done because the peak of the rainy season is expected in early 2022.
In addition to asking residents to form independent Jumantik in every house, he also asked every agency to routinely carry out PSN to prevent Aedes aegypti mosquitoes from breeding. “Currently, seeing the conditions of the rainy season, the vector (aedes aegypti) that transmits it is starting to grow. Therefore, we must immediately anticipate for vector control,” said Suprono.
Millennial Education
Meanwhile, the DKI Jakarta Association of Public Health Promoters and Educators (PPPKMI) educates millennials about being alert for dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“PPPKMI DKI Jakarta Provincial Administration took the initiative to help the government to mobilize and cultivate the healthy living community movement (Germas) in preventing the transmission of DHF,” said the Chairperson of DKI Jakarta PPPKMI, Mery Aderita in a webinar entitled “Smart Education and Response to Dengue Fever during the Covid Pandemic. -19” which was held virtually followed in Bogor, Sunday (12/12).
According to him, dengue fever and the corona virus are two diseases that can cause confusion. This is because the symptoms of dengue fever, such as headaches, joint and muscle pain, also occur in Covid-19 patients.
There were 299 participants from cross-sectoral circles who attended the webinar.
