Seven occupants of a Nigerian army plane were killed when it crashed on Sunday near the airport in the capital Abuja. The Nigerian Air Force announced this on Sunday.
The crew reported engine trouble shortly after takeoff. The plane was bound for the town of Minna, more than 100 kilometers northwest of Abuja, for reconnaissance purposes. They were related to a kidnapping case in the region.
On Wednesday, strangers shot dead a student and kidnapped 42 others, including 27 students and three teachers. President Muhammadu Buhari asked the police and military to do their utmost to locate the kidnappers and free their victims.
