The background to these thoughts is the corona pandemic, which for many cultural workers, creative people, and artists, including those from Paderborn, is associated with dramatic losses in sales and even a lack of existence. Events have been canceled, cultural venues closed, many projects and exhibitions postponed or canceled.
From this Saturday on, donations will flow from the new 7CRun trail running series to accompany the “6. SportSeries for the continent of Asia ”at the Paderborn culture solos. “The new 7CRun trail running series is very popular. Within just one week of the start of the new discipline, more than 700 runners have already registered for trail running. ”
An overwhelming success that initiator Jan Braun, himself an enthusiastic trail runner, is “incredibly pleased” about. How does the collection work? From November 28th to the end of March 2021, athletes collect kilometers every day and enter them on the organizer’s website. For the kilometers collected up to spring, the participants are called on each month to translate them into voluntary donations, in other words: to donate a freely chosen amount for each kilometer covered, be it 1 cent, 10 cents or more. And: “We are also looking for a kilometer sponsor for this special donation project,” says Julia Ures from the Kultur-Soli to the local economy.
Jan Braun: “The lean period in culture will continue, so long-term help is needed. With the fundraising campaign until the end of March, we have a long phase, figuratively speaking, a marathon, during which we collect funds. “For the 53-year-old from Paderborn and his seven-person team, it was obvious to donate to the local aid campaign:” We support that special commitment of the Paderborn Kultur-Solis, because we also want to set an example to unbureaucratically preserve the diversity of our culture on site in all its diversity.
Attorney Martin J. Warm, member of the independent five-person jury of the Paderborn Kultur-Soli and an enthusiastic hobby runner: “The fact that the 7CRun supports cultural solos in this way shows how easy it is to think outside the box. To do something good by moving culture – a wonderful connection. ”The sports enthusiast Schlänger himself, with a law firm in Paderborn, likes to run around the Lippe Gauseköte near his home.
People from all over the world can take part in the “7CRun”. Where they collect the kilometers in the virtual sports series is up to them. The campaign now has more than 40,000 participants from more than 15 nations with a total of almost 500,000 kilometers, which corresponds to twelve circumnavigations of the world.
Julia Ures: “With this we can spread the idea of the Paderborn Kultur-Soli even further and also show others: It is up to all of us to support the local culture of our hometowns – through encouragement and solidarity and not least with donations.” In the meantime the Paderborn Kultur-Soli has collected around 80,000 euros in donations since March, which the independent jury passed on to 17 cultural projects and as grants to eight cultural professionals.
Participation in the “7CRun” is free. Further information is available on the Internet at: www.7crun.com. You can register directly at: www.7crunresults.com
