Fifty Spanish cities have joined the call #PHEdesdemibalcón, promoted from PhotoEspaña, in the that have attended more than 63,000 photographs made by the Spanish during the confinement by the state of alarm. From mid-June, the balconies and windows of cities such as Burgos, León, Salamanca, Segovia, Soria, Valladolid and Zamora (all the capitals of province of Castilla y León, except Ávila and Palencia) are to be converted as well in locations of the project, showing images that a jury made up of experts select in each city. You’re exhibition will mark the kick off of PHotoEspaña 2020, “a very special edition with the that the Festival will have a presence in virtually all of the country with this story citizen”, they point the organizers in a press release picked up by Ical.
The call photo #PHEdesdemibalcón was launched last march 30 and closed on Sunday, may 17, with more than 63,000 images in Instagram and 36.201 shares registered on the website of the Festival. PhotoEspaña wanted to invite the citizens to express themselves through photography, with images taken from their balconies and windows, as a collective exercise in a situation as exceptional as the one we are experiencing.
“As it has done throughout the History of the Art, windows and balconies have become a more and more meaningless than ever, instruments for the exploration of creativity, imagination and to share individual looks of the situation, which more than ever demands that we act as a collective”, – underline the promoters in a press release picked up by Ical.
The County council of Albacete and Girona and the City of Cuenca were the last to confirm their participation in the project, thus adding to the seven cities of castile and leon mentioned, and to Madrid, Santander, A Coruña, Alcobendas, Alcalá de Henares, madrid, Badajoz, Seville, Barcelona, Cordoba, Logroño, Oviedo, Vitoria, La Laguna, Las Palmas, Zaragoza, Castellón, Elche, Gijón, Granada, Jaén, Melilla, Pamplona, Teruel, Toledo, Vigo, Albacete, Alicante, Cáceres, Getafe, Guadalajara, ‘hospitalet de Llobregat, Cartagena, Coslada, Ibiza, Muxía, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Torrevieja, Valencia and Hervás.
Among all the images presented, a jury of experts will select a total of 2.450 photographs that will be exposed to the open air in their respective cities. In addition, thanks to the support of Acciona, the ten best photos will receive a prize of 500 euros each. In the next few days will be the selection of the finalist images, and will coordinate with all the cities the location of these samples.
