The 5th edition of the campaign “ Never measure yourself by the train » was launched on Wednesday November 22, 2023.

It is an initiative which aims to equip the populations living near the railway line between the Franceville and Milolé stations, about the dangers of the rail and the habits to develop. Through this campaign, setrag wishes to reach nearly 5,000 people identified within a 200-meter perimeter around the railway. Georges Moundounga, operations coordinator (Coordex) declared on the Gabon media time website that “ the objective is to raise awareness among populations immediately around the railway line of the risks associated with traveling along the railway “. This is why students and other categories of the population near the railway line constitute the main targets of this awareness campaign.

However, students are the most affected by this “never measure yourself by the train” campaign. It will therefore affect a total of 12 schools, 10 primary schools and 2 secondary schools identified between the 7 stations from Franceville to Milolé. “ We never measure ourselves against the train, especially since the technical school is located not far from the train station. We have students who live on both sides of the railway tracks. It’s a safety message, to ask our students to be careful », declared Emile Nzatsi, principal of the Agathe Obendjé Technical high school.

A message supported by the Mayor of the 4th arrondissement of the Municipality of Franceville, Youma Abdul Rabman, and the Coordex. “ The students because these are the establishments which are immediately concerned by the project, because they are located around the railway line, 200 m on either side of the track », indicated Georges Moundounga. Students are therefore invited to learn all the basics relating to the behaviors to be put into practice in order to avoid any risk of incident on the railway.
