The need for nurses is urgent for hospitals in the Thau basin, whose staff are in great difficulty.
Twenty-eight admissions in two days. 71 patients hospitalized for covid in the Thau Basin hospitals. The situation is critical, says director Claudie Greslon. It thus launches an appeal as for the “needs of nurses” for hospitals “submerged by the third wave covid”.
Insufficient teams
On the eve of a new weekend, she specifies that “the medical and paramedical teams are in great difficulty. Their number is insufficient to cope with this daily influx of patients and requires professionals to be reminded of their time off” .
However, it has been several weeks since the Saint-Clair hospital in Sète has been reviewing its organization in terms of beds and publicly launching research for additional nurses. “After having opened, 6 then 14, then 20 medical beds and 7 additional critical care beds, the establishment no longer has sufficient nursing resources to go beyond this increased capacity and continue to manage the increasing daily flow” .
Appeal to other establishments and liberals
For Claudie Greslon, “this third wave is extremely difficult to contain. Its very rapid development, its intensity, is exhausting the already weakened teams.” Internal mobility, reminder on leave, moving to full-time for part-time workers, overtime, temporary work, calling on retirees are not enough! Patients have also been transferred to Montpellier.
Sète therefore launches a call for “solidarity” to other establishments and liberal nurses to come to its aid.
