Unrecognizable against Nice, Sète fell on his floor in three sets. For its part, Nantes-Rezé was pushed to the tiebreak by Toulouse but had the last word.
Sète finds itself in difficulty. After having achieved a series of ten straight victories in the men’s A League, Arago conceded a second loss in a row this Friday during the reception of Nice. Patrick Duflos players fell in three dry sets on their floor. The first set saw the Niçois, led by Bruno Lima (18 points), gradually widen the gap before shaking when concluding their second opportunity.
The Sète then reacted to race in the lead at the start of the second set but a series of five points in a row allowed Nice to regain the ascendancy to get the set with a margin of four points. Ryan Sclater (19 points) and his teammates were unable to respond, leading by only a moment and a point in the third set. The Niçois, sure of their strength, then rolled out to sign a second victory in a row (22-25, 21-25, 19-25) and consolidate their sixth place. Sète, for its part, could drop a rank depending on the result of Narbonne this Saturday.
Nantes-Rezé got scared
After having put an end to the series of Sète, the Nantes people once thought they could follow up quite easily when they received Toulouse. Hubert Henno’s players quickly took the lead over Spacer’s in an absolutely one-sided first set and concluded with a gap of eleven points. Nantes-Rezé continued their momentum at the start of the second leg but the five-point gap maintained at the start of the “money time” melted like snow in the sun. However, on their first set point, the Nantes team made the break in this meeting. It took more to get Toulouse out of the game.
Stéphane Sapinart’s protégés were able to recover from a series of five points lost in a row to go back in front and close the gap with the win of the third set with a lead of four lengths. Confused, the Nantes-Rezé players were unable to react when the fourth round turned in favor of Toulouse, who raced in the lead. In pride, the Loire-Atlantique players have picked up 21 points everywhere… only to lose the next four and be forced to play a tiebreak. Pocketing five of the first six points, Nantes quickly dashed Toulouse’s hopes to win (25-14, 25-23, 21-25, 21-25, 15-12) but saw Nice widen the gap. Toulouse, beaten for the third time in a row, continues to fall.
