Apple announced earlier that when iOS 17.4 is launched, sideloading will be officially launched in the European Union, allowing local iPhone users to download and use third-party applications that do not appear in the Apple App Store to comply with the EU Digital Services Act DMA regulations. MacPaw recently announced that Setapp will be the alternative App Store on iPhones in the EU starting from April. Setapp has invited users to test it. Interested friends can register to join the waiting list on the Setapp official website.

Setapp itself is popular on Mac computers. It is an application service based on a subscription system. If users spend US$9.99 (approximately HK$78) per month, they can use dozens of selected apps in Setapp, including Ulysses, iStat Menus, Spark Mail, Unite, Yoink, etc. After the launch of iOS 17.4, Setapp will become a third-party App Store for EU iPhones and can be used directly on EU iPhones.
As for the Setapp Mobile beta version, it mainly provides 5 app categories, covering productivity and business tools, creative and design software, lifestyle and productivity, practical apps and professional tools. It is worth mentioning that Setapp subscribers on Mac can already access a series of iOS apps through QR Code. Therefore, it is believed that it will provide a simpler and more convenient operating experience after it becomes the EU iPhone 3rd party App Store.
