In the Rhineland, there is hardly anything nicer for sociable and fun-loving people than celebrating Cologne Carnival in a pleasant atmosphere and forgetting current worries for a while. The GKG Fidele brothers from Koslar continue their successful session with a grand finale. In addition, the GKG offers a nice mix of carnival events until Ash Wednesday.
“So far, all events have exceeded expectations,” says our chairman Heinz Theo Meurer. After a very well attended session opening, a beautifully designed dialect mass with “Ne Bergische Jung”, alias Deacon Willibert Pauels, and a prince’s bivouac, the remaining weeks are now one highlight after the other.
On Saturday, February 4, at 7 p.m., the big costume session will take place in the Citizens’ Hall. A colorful mix of music, dance and speakers with many well-known top artists from the Cologne carnival scene inspire. In addition to the forces of the GKG, there will be Ingrid Kühne, Volker Weiniger as “The President of the Session”, Liselotte Lotterlappen, the traditional Cologne corps Treuer Husar Blau-Gelb and the dance corps Fidele Sandhasen Oberlahr. The children’s session starts one day later, on Sunday, February 5, at 2:30 p.m. Participating: Children’s Elferrat of the GKG with children’s president Yannick Putek, dance groups and Tanzmariechen of the GKG and various guests. As a top act, the children can look forward to the two artists known from the KIKA Sing-Alarm “I + Mr. Meyer”.
With the start of the street carnival on Weiberfastnacht, the GKG swarms out again with all departments and visits kindergartens, schools and senior citizens’ homes. Finally, the town hall is stormed.
D’r Zoch Kütt in Koslar for the first time on Carnation Saturday, February 18, at 1:11 p.m
It starts at the Bürgerhalle with many guests and friendly clubs. The remodeled and redesigned carriages of the Elferrat and the Prinzengarde are presented. Registrations for the train are still possible until February 5th. Information is available on the GKG website.
Immediately after the end of the parade, the train participants and guests move to the Bürgerhalle for the After-Zoch-Party with awards for the most beautiful costumes. Admission is free. For the first time in the history of the association, the GKG takes part in the Jülich Kengerzoch on Tulip Sunday, February 19th.
On the weekends without their own event, the GKG activists, led by their triumvirate (Virgin Georgina II Georg Fischer), Prince Markus I (Freyaldenhoven) and Bauer Matthias II (Creutz) with the Prince leaders Siggi Grohs and Sascha Potz, visit many friendly societies and present a magnificent stage design in purple and yellow. “It’s an incredible feeling,” says Prince Markus I, “when we drive to the performances and march up to the stage with the many friends from the GKG.”
