Massa Marittima, 14 October 2024 – The new headquarters of the nursery “Green Caterpillar” by Valpiana following the adaptation works of the structure carried out by the Municipality. Mayor Irene Marconi and the councilor for public education were present at the ribbon cutting Sara Montemaggi. The building welcomed the children of the Green Caterpillar until 2012, after which it was closed for over 10 years due to lack of members. Consequently, a portion of the premises have since been used as post offices, which remained in the building even with the reopening of the nursery.
The works financed by the municipal administration guaranteed the expansion of the surface with the closure of the external veranda which became an integral part of the property. Energy adaptation interventions were also carried out to guarantee high quality standards and new furnishings were purchased.
“The reopening of the nursery is an important event for the future of the hamlet of Valpiana which is the one in which the largest number of young families is concentrated: – said the mayor –. The project to strengthen educational services for early childhood arises from a real need to respond to the growing demand from families, which we have recorded in recent years, also following the nursery bonus incentives and the regional free nursery measure. It is an important welfare response: we believe that the presence of adequate school services is an indispensable condition for retaining residents and attracting new ones”.
“The children entered the new nursery from October 1st – adds Sara Montemaggi – finding an ideal environment for their growth path thanks to the new furnishings and an educational approach focused on well-being and psychomotor development”.
An intervention that involved an economic commitment of 150 thousand euros which the administration supported, during the last year of Giuntini’s mandate, with the taking out of a mortgage.
“A project that meets the needs of the Valpiana community but also offers an opportunity to the families of the capital and surrounding areas”, declared Annamaria Gabbricci president of the district council.
