Lenin Gutiérrez, a young man who works in a Starbucks in San Diego in the United States, received a nice sum of money for having strictly applied the health regulations of the State of California.
Because of the epidemic, the barista refused to serve a client, Amber Lynn Gilles, who was not wearing a mask inside the cafe – which is yet mandatory in all public places in the state.
Furious at having been failed in the establishment, Amber Lynn Gilles publicly displayed her nervousness against the server on Facebook on June 22, Newsweek reports.
She shared on the social network a photo she had taken from the server with this comment: “Here is Lenin from Starbucks who refused to serve me because I do not wear a mask. Next time I’ll wait for the cops and bring a medical exemption ”.
Amber Lynn Gilles may not have expected it, but her publication unfortunately went viral on the internet. A crowd of people began to openly defend the Starbucks employee, and a user had the idea of launching a support kitty.
The success was dazzling. In just three days, the fundraiser called “Tip for Lenin who resists a Karen from San Diego” raised over 33,000 dollars (around 30,000 euros). The name Karen is commonly used on American social networks as a nickname for white women who unjustly incriminate people of color.

California epidemic worries
