Seven people have been sent to hospital after a serious traffic accident inside the Blindheim tunnel on E39 in Ålesund.
– There has been a meeting gap between two cars. We have 3-4 people in each car, says operations manager Arild Reite in Møre og Romsdal police district to NRK.
Several are said to be seriously injured, but the police have no further information about the injuries to those involved.
The operations manager further says that the tunnel is closed, and that it will be for some time to come.
The police inform at 01.20 that forensic technicians are on their way to the city of the accident and that the Norwegian Public Roads Administration’s accident group is in the city to conduct investigations.
The police tweeted about the accident at 23.45 on Friday night and the naudetata were in town shortly after.
