Just before 10:00 on Sunday morning, the police were notified of a serious traffic accident on the E16 in Voss.
At 12.15, the police task leader on the spot confirms to Bergensavisen that two people have died.
This is confirmed by the police in a press release shortly after:
– These two people were sitting in a foreign-registered car. There are four injured people who were taken by ambulance to Voss hospital. The extent of the damage to these people is uncertain. One of these people has flown on by air ambulance to Haukeland Hospital, writes operations manager Tom Johannessen in the West police district in a press release.
Front to front
The probable course of events is that a car has come driving from Voss in the direction of Bergen. It has hit head-on with a car and hit another car that came driving in the opposite direction, the police say.
According to the police, there are a total of six people involved in the accident, spread over three different cars.
– There are critically injured people, and the accident appears to be very serious. Emergency services are working on site, and the road will be closed for an uncertain time in the future, says operations manager Tom Johannesen.
People trapped
The accident happened on the E16 west of Voss.
Duty manager Tore Fanebust in the 110 switchboard west tells Dagbladet that the road is closed and the police are investigating the crime scene.
– It is a serious accident, where three cars and six people are involved, says Fanebust.
– In one car, people are trapped, says Fanebust, and states that the emergency services are working to free these people.
– Chaotic
He states that there is an 80-zone on the site. It is stay and not slippery on the road.
Fanebust will not comment on the health condition of those involved, and says health has taken over responsibility for the people on site.
He states that large resources are in the accident area, and describes the situation on the site as chaotic to BT.
Veitrafikksentralen reports that the closure of the road will be long-lasting. Detour takes place via Fv 79 and Fv 49, via Granvin. .
