Today at half past ten in the morning there was a serious traffic accident in Přeštice, in which an ambulance collided with a car and crashed into the wall of a house.
According to information from the scene, an ambulance was transporting a drug addict to an anti-alcohol detention center and was driving through Přeštice in the direction of Pilsen, when the driver of a Renault passenger car refused to give him the right of way in Hlávkova Street above the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. The impact threw the passenger car approximately 15 meters away, while the ambulance was ricocheted into the wall of a house and a lamp post. A police officer from the car accompanying the ambulance immediately set out to help the injured.
All emergency services went to the scene immediately, firefighters secured the accident site and paramedics took care of a total of four injured people, i.e. the driver and the paramedic from the ambulance, the policeman who assisted them during the transfer and the driver of the Renault. “Three Rzp cars were dispatched to the scene of the accident. The injured driver of our car and the paramedic suffered moderate injuries, both were transported to the Klatovská hospital. The injured policeman and the driver of the car were transported with moderate injuries to the emergency department of the Lochotín University Hospital. “said the press spokeswoman for the rescuers.
The transported patient was not injured in the accident and was taken to the place of destination, i.e. to the detention center, by a replacement vehicle.
“In the direction of travel from Lužany to Plzeň, an EMS vehicle with its light and sound warning device turned on was transporting a patient. A policeman assisted during this transfer. At the level of the local church, a Renault vehicle of a driver born in 1940 left the area off the road and collided with front part with the front part of the EMS vehicle. It then hit a house standing on the left side of the road. The accident injured a Renault driver born in 1940, an EMS driver born in 1976, a paramedic born in 1976 and a police officer born in 1963,” the police spokeswoman said, adding that the breath tests performed on both drivers were negative and the exact cause of the traffic accident is the subject of further investigation.
