Serious Stabbing Incident in Oslo: Victim Hospitalized but Stable

– The victim is a man in his late 20s. He is said to be seriously injured, but was conscious when he was taken to Ullevål hospital. We can say that the injury is compatible with the use of a knife, says incident leader Gunhild Finne Nilsen at the Oslo police district to NRK.

In an update on Thursday night, NRK is informed that the victim is seriously injured, but not critically.

The incident happened on Skøyenåsen in the district of Østensjø late on Wednesday evening. The police in Oslo were notified of the incident via the AMK central at 23.13.

The police assume the crime scene was out on the street.

Crime scene technicians have carried out investigations at the scene.

– We have finished with the operative part. We have searched for two perpetrators. They have not yet been arrested. We have finished at the crime scene and secured some clues there. We continue to work on the case to get it resolved, says operations manager Gjermund Stokkli.

Two people ran from the scene

Residents in the area have observed two people running from the scene.

The police searched with several units, with help from the dog patrol and helicopter.

– No one we have come into contact with has seen the incident itself, says task leader Finne Nilsen

For now, she did not want to give any description of the perpetrators, or say whether the offended man is already known to the police. The police say that so far there is no indication that the case has any connection to other violent episodes in Oslo recently.

– Doesn’t seem random

The stabbing took place in a quiet residential area about a mile from the city centre.

– It is important to be told by the police that this does not appear to be a random attack. So there is no need to worry about neighbors in the area. There is also no reason to believe that the incident has any relation to the place here, says Gunhild Finne Nilsen.

She says the police have some hypotheses about who they are looking for, but so far do not want to share descriptions of perpetrators with the public.
