Serious Request: The Lifeline raises 1,601,923 euros for Red Cross | NOW

The 3FM Serious Request: The Lifeline campaign, which was last launched for the Red Cross this year, has yielded 1,601,923 euros. The final amount was announced on Thursday evening in Enschede, where six DJs from NPO 3FM were locked up at Twenthe Airport.

The proceeds this year will benefit medical aid during the corona crisis. Unlike the past two years, the DJs who took part in Serious Request: The Lifeline this year were locked up again. In recent editions, a walking tour was made throughout the Netherlands to raise money.

This time the team consisting of Frank van der Lende, Eva Koreman, Sander Hoogendoorn, Sophie Hijlkema, Rob Janssen and Wijnand Speelman had to keep a treadmill moving for the entire duration of the promotion. The DJs were locked up last Friday.

Van der Lende and Koreman left NU.nl for the action know to hope that the togetherness they felt during the first lockdown would overcome the divisions among the people they noticed in recent months. “I know it is a great wish and I call myself naive, but I am simply ambitious. I really see bringing people closer together as a personal goal and that also applies to Eva”, said Van der Lende at the time.

Last year, the action, which was then carried out for victims of human trafficking, raised more than 1.4 million euros.
