A motorcyclist was seriously injured this morning on the E17 towards Antwerp, near Sint-Niklaas. The motorcyclist was hit from behind by a car driver. According to the first findings, he would have fallen asleep behind the wheel. The collision caused the motorcycle to fall heavily. He slid tens of meters across the asphalt and was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The driver of his car overturned, but escaped with minor injuries. The highway to Antwerp was closed for a while due to the accident. Traffic was diverted via the parallel road.
