Serious problem on the platforms of Facebook and Instagram is observed in the last minutes as millions of users around the world were taken offline at the same time.
On the Twitter platform there are thousands of reports from users from many countries who noticed the same phenomenon a few minutes after 17.00 in the afternoon (Greece time).
Instagram has the same problem as the feed does not refresh.
The downdetector service that logs problems on major internet platforms appears to have received hundreds of thousands of reports of network crashes.
In a message shown to some users attempting to log in to their account, the platform claims that the reason for the global drop is that network maintenance is being carried out.
“Facebook will soon be with you again. Facebook is currently down for maintenance. In a few minutes, however, you will be able to log in again. In the meantime, read more about why you’re seeing this message. Thank you for your patience while we make improvements to the site,” the platform says.
