Serious Dispute and Assault on Dove Elbe: Hamburg District Court to Hear Case of Boat Captain Threatening to Kill Opponents

A serious dispute between leisure captains on the Dove Elbe is scheduled to be heard in the Hamburg district court on Monday (9 a.m.). According to the public prosecutor’s office, two men aged 49 and 47 are accused. They are said to have initially had a verbal argument with the three occupants of another boat late in the evening of June 1, 2019. The older man threatened to kill one of the opponents. Then the 49-year-old jumped from his motor yacht “Devil inside” onto the sports boat “Erika” and hit two of the occupants. These could have pushed the intruder into the water.

The two defendants then followed the “Erika” in inflatable boats and rammed the sports boat several times. Although the attackers were told that there was a pregnant woman on board the “Erika”, they continued to cause collisions on the boat, tore off the fuel hose and threatened the occupants. The pregnant woman finally jumped into the water out of fear and swam to the shore. According to the information, the incident occurred in the so-called Bay of Pigs, part of the Dove Elbe in the Stattenberg district.
