Serious bicycle accident in a narrow place

The two cyclists suffered injuries, some of them serious, in a bicycle accident on the Ulm Danube Cycle Path.

A 58-year-old was riding his racing bike on the Danube cycle path towards Ulm city center. A 45-year-old cyclist met him at the zigzag bridge. She drove towards the Danube Valley. Both collided in oncoming traffic and fell.

Rescue workers took the 58-year-old to a clinic with serious injuries and the 45-year-old with minor injuries. The traffic police recorded the accident. During her investigation into the accident, she is asking for witness information on Tel. 07392/9630-320.

Note from the ulm-news editorial team:

One of mine probably had the first bell on his racing bike – how uncool, but how useful. I have now seen or heard race bikes ringing a few times. Without wanting or being able to intervene in the current case, please to all racing bike colleagues: ride at an appropriate speed here – the other traffic participants do not expect the quiet but fast racing bikes, the tourists traipse along the bike path at the Donauwiese, lost in thought, children and parents hardly have a chance – and the cycle path is currently very narrow and confusing in some places. A miracle that no longer happens. But if everyone looks after each other, then little happens.

If you think you have to race here on your racing bike because otherwise you’ll ruin your haircut, you should drive out of the city – then you can go 35 km/h and get extra kilometers on your speedometer.
