The accident, which allegedly involved two vans and a passenger car, happened around 7:15 am on the roadway towards Rotterdam, between the petrol station and the Ridderster junction. The fire brigade had to free both victims from their cars. Ambulance personnel were assisted by a mobile medical team who arrived at the scene by trauma helicopter.

The road is closed to traffic. Motorists who got stuck between the driveway and the accident were led off the road by the police against the traffic. At nine o’clock there was still a short traffic jam with traffic, which had to leave the road at the exit Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht. Through traffic was diverted via the A17 and A29. Those who did not follow that advice were pointed to the N3 as an alternative. Despite the activities there, this did not lead to any problems.

The police will not clear the road until the technical investigation into the cause of the accident has been completed. That probably happens around half past ten.
