Calenzano (Florence), 10 December 2021 – Serious accident on the Autostrada del Sole shortly after the tollbooth of Calenzano. Two heavy vehicles were involved in the accident, which overturned, and a car: after the accident, the vehicles were engulfed in flames.
The first aid workers extracted two people from the vehicles who were rescued by the 118 and by the firefighters of Florence, Prato, the detachments of Firenze Ovest and Calenzano.
The highway was closed with traffic diversion. Starting from the junction with the A1 Direttissima, in the direction of Rome, there are 2 kilometers of queue in the blocked section. Queue also in the opposite direction after Firenze Nord.
Those traveling in the direction of Florence must exit at Calenzano, take the ordinary road system and return to the A11 motorway at Prato Est. Reverse route for those traveling in the direction of Bologna. The personnel of Autostrade per l’Italia, the Traffic Police, the Fire Brigade and all emergency vehicles are present at the scene of the accident.
Still at 1.30 am the Russian surveyor of the IV Trunk Directorate, through Isoradio, explained that the section would remain closed for the time necessary to cool the fire vehicles and to clean up the road before being able to remove the block and organize a reopening at least partial.
In the meantime, the pocket of traffic that had remained blocked in the north carriageway had been cleared and the two kilometers of traffic blocked towards the south were also being disposed of.
