There was a serious accident at work on the Elbe bridges in Hamburg. A scaffolding collapsed. Four people were injured, one of them is in mortal danger.
The accident happened during a maneuver under the bridge. Apparently, ten men were supposed to put scaffolding under the Elbe bridges. Suddenly it collapsed and four of the men fell down. According to the fire department, they fell up to six meters deep. One of the victims was critically injured. His colleagues suffered several broken bones.
Height rescuers of the fire brigade in action
The workers who did not fall alerted the fire department. The height rescuers from the fire brigade, who are trained for such operations, were on the scene very quickly because they were doing a drill nearby. They brought the badly injured men to safety. The workers arrived at the hospital in a rescue helicopter and several ambulances.
The uninjured workers had to be cared for by pastors. Police are now investigating why the scaffolding collapsed.
