A cult fiction spin-off, centered on the character of Dionne, has been commissioned by the Peacock platform.
“Clueless” is first a film, released in Switzerland in 1996. It told the story of Cher Horowitz (Alicia Silverstone), a rich and popular student of a high school in Beverly Hills who tries – with the help of her best friend Dionne Davenport (Stacey Dash) – to prove to her half-brother that she’s not as superficial as she looks. The feature film was then adapted in series, broadcast between 1996 and 1999 in the United States. A musical was also released in 2018 on Broadway.

Assuming that the best soups are made in old pots, the Peacock video on demand service has decided to prepare a new version of “Clueless”. According to information from «Variety», it will be neither a sequel nor a reboot, but a kind of spin-off. The future series will focus on the character of Dionne, who will see her life change after Cher’s mysterious disappearance. Propelled to the rank of the most popular girl in her school, Dionne will have to learn to manage the pressure that goes with it, while trying to find out what happened to her best friend, describes the American magazine.

The screenplay for this derivative series will be written by Jordan Reddout and Gus Hickey, to whom we owe the sequel to “Will and Grace”, “Papa has a plan” or “Dollface”. Regarding the casting, we will have to wait a little before knowing who will slip into Dionne’s skin, no name having yet been announced.
