The Italian Serie A clubs have not found a consistent basis for possible salary cuts among players after a video conference of the clubs on Friday. They are now planning to continue discussions with the football union. According to Italian media reports, they are considering a blanket wage lock of one month.

The players from series champions Juventus Turin had previously offered to waive their salary from March to June if the league had to be canceled due to the Corona crisis. The Italian Football Association (FIGC) has currently set a target for a restart at the end of May and has agreed with the Ministry of Sports that the footballers should undergo a thorough examination before resuming training.

Twelve rounds and the semi-finals and finals of the Italian Cup are still pending this season. However, 16 Serie A players are currently infected with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which has already claimed more than 14,000 lives in Italy.
