Serie B: Juve Stabia’s coup in Bari, Salernitana wins in comeback

Newly promoted Juve Stabia strikes in first day of Serie B. Wasps surprise San Nicola Bari winning 1-3. The team won in a comeback (2-1) Salerno with the Citadelwith the same score (2-1) the South Tyrol fold the Modena. Finally the Pisa recovers two goals at Spice and avoids defeat in front of their fans (2-2).

BARI-JUVE STABIA 1-3

A rocket start for Juve Stabia that silences the 21 thousand of the San Nicola. The Campanians win 3-1 after having mortgaged the victory since the first half. Two goals in carbon copy for the very lively boys of Pagliuca: on the corners of Mosti, winning headers from two defenders, Bellich in the middle of the half and Folino just before the interval. Bari also did not do well in the second half despite the entry of Novakovich who first tests Thiam with a header and then finds the outside of the net. But it is always the guests who are the ones to rage with the new entry Artistico who makes it three from a cross by Andreoni. SALERNITANA-CITTADELLA 2-1

The defeat seems inevitable but in the recovery the incredible happens. First (92′) comes the equaliser for Salernitana with Daniliuc who heads in a brush stroke from a free kick by Amatucci. Then (96′) comes the resurrection of Simy who, with the help of a deflection by Angeli, beats Kastrati.

SOUTH TYROL-MODENA 2-1

Sudtirol shows its ambitions and in the Cesarini zone it defeats Modena 2-1. The home team starts with the right attitude and in the 8th minute Valente’s team takes the lead. Casiraghi traces the trajectory from the three-quarter line on a set piece, the shot is intercepted by Mallamo’s header who sends the ball into the bottom corner, eluding the intervention of goalkeeper Gagno. Poluzzi is alert, however, in the 14th minute on a shot from Palumbo that the biancorosso goalkeeper controls with a save on the ground. Sudtirol persistently searches for the opponent’s goal and in the 36th minute Kurtic’s shot grazes the crossbar of the upright. Modena gets back in the game in the 40th minute when Bozhanaj wedges himself into the area, and from the vertex slips into the bottom corner of Poluzzi’s goal. In the second half the contenders travel carefully, avoiding conceding spaces and opportunities. In the 40th minute, Crespi tries an overhead kick on a cross from Casiraghi, but the shot ends up wide. The decisive goal comes at the last minute, in the 45th minute, when on a cross from Tait, Rover’s precise header leaves Gagno no chance and is worth the goal of the Alto Adige team’s overtaking. In injury time, Palumbo’s flash gives the Emilians a draw, but after a check at the VAR it is cancelled.

PISA-SPEZIA 2-2

Physical match with lots of contact held with difficulty by Manganiello. It ends in a draw between Pisa and Spezia, but either team could have won. Immediately there were chances on both sides: first Soleri for the Ligurians, then Bonfanti. However, the challenge was unlocked by Pio Esposito in the 21st minute who pierced Semper from close range. In injury time, a free kick by Salvatore Esposito, a header by Bertola and the whites doubled their lead. In the 50th minute, a cross by Tramoni, a header by Tourè and the deficit was halved. In the second half, a penalty was claimed by Pisa for contact between Mateju and Tramoni (13′), then Sarr saved on Tourè and Canestrelli (22′). In the 34th minute, a corner by Angori and Canestrelli who towered over Di Serio and, with a header, beat Sarr.
