Roma took the lead in the 61st minute after a goal by Artem Dowbyk, but did not take the three points from Lombardy, as Dany Mota later scored a goal to make it 1-1. Zalewski played as a left swingman. The last time he played in the Italian league was on September 1, in a goalless draw against Juventus Turin.
Zalewski was a standout figure in the Nations League matches against Scotland and Croatia, but after returning to the club he was told that he no longer had a place in the team. The midfielder’s contract expires at the end of the season and the management was counting on selling him to Galatasaray. However, the transaction did not take place because the player stated that he preferred to stay in Rome.
Later, the club’s authorities softened their stance towards Zalewski and he returned to training with the team of coach Ivan Jurić, who replaced Daniele de Rossi in September. Despite the confusion, coach Michał Probierz called up the 22-year-old for the October training camp of the Polish national team, which starts on Monday.
